Oliver Peoples expands its collaboration with the Cary Grant Estate.

Cary Grant’s illustrious legacy lives beyond his film career – as a father and a husband and an inspiration to many on and off-screen. Across his various roles, Grant’s attributes remained the same, a natural relaxed elegance and versatility of character and style. To celebrate the Grant few know, the man off duty, Oliver Peoples has furthered its sought-after collaboration with the Cary Grant Estate. The Cary Grant 2 and Cary Grant 2 Sun are available in five exclusive colorways while the Cary Grant and Cary Grant Sun are updated in new color combinations.

As with the debut collection, the latest release translates Grant’s style notes into era-defining aesthetics. Only, the inspiration for the continuation comes from the sophisticated characteristics that passed from Grant as a person to Grant as an actor and back again.

The statement of Giampiero Tagliaferri, Creative Director of Oliver Peoples

Oliver Peoples wanted to create a frame that evolved the initial design but continued to pay homage to the timeless style of one of the most iconic Hollywood actors of all time,” says Giampiero Tagliaferri, Creative Director of Oliver Peoples. “A combination frame became that evolution. This new design conveys the look of Hollywood in the ‘50s and ‘60s – the quintessential silhouette for film and TV at that time – and yet it feels relaxed in the way Cary always appeared. It offers relaxed elegance in the same way Grant – and California – does elegance: effortlessly”.

The images of Cary Grant

To align the vision of past and present, Oliver Peoples turned to commercial illustration for several portraits of Grant in the new frames. The artist-enhanced several iconographic images of Grant, at ease and off duty, to channel the spirit of and inspiration behind the collaboration. This art form, prevalent in the fashion and editorial industries of the ‘40s and ‘50s, illuminates an authentic exchange between the actor, his estate and Oliver Peoples’ commitment to elegance. Depicting how Grant would have worn these frames with his simple holiday uniform – a crisp shirt, linen pants, and the perfect pair of sunglasses.
